Manuscript reconstruction of the 11th century Reims Gospel
(exact handwritten copy in cyrillic ustav and glagolitic)
the most ancient of the known manuscripts of Ancient Rus', created in the 10th century in the grand-knyazly scriptorium of Kyiv. The manuscript was supposedly taken to France by Anna, the daughter of Yaroslav the Wise, and is stored in the museum of the city of Reims (France). The Reims Gospel is a shrine of the Ukrainian, French (the French kings took the oath on this Gospel), Czech peoples (its second part, written in glagolitic in the Czech Republic in the 13th century, was attached to the first, cyrillic). This Gospel has never been published in full, and the manuscript has not been exhibited on the territory of Ukraine. The exhibition of the recreated manuscript in St. Sophia of Kiev will be a bright socio-political and cultural event in Ukraine.
