Hilarion, being a Rusyn, was the first metropolitan of non-Greek origin. In his work, Metropolitan Hilarion outlined his vision of the emergence of Orthodoxy in Rus', and also substantiated the historical and socio-political trends in the formation of its statehood
The text is taken as a basis from a manuscript copy of the 15th century (Syn. No. 591). The typographical errors in it have been corrected in accordance with the spelling rules of the 14th century.

Each of the miniatures was painted in egg tempera and framed by frontispieces executed in the teratological style
